Changes on App Submission
Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.
- Bill Gates
During the developer event these days, one of the most frequent questions from developers was to simplify application management. As we know application management is the foundation of application marketplace, it made us a little embarrassed, but also urged us to bring some improvement.
What was changed:
As-is Lots of input fields 1. Too many metadata field 2. AndroidManifest was hardly used 3. Hard to manage many apps | To-Be Focused on Simplicity 1. Simplified metadata input 2. Handles and shows AndroidManifest.xml 3. Apps can be organized by groups |

Introducing 'App group' and enhanced usability
New feature called 'app group'
Developers can manage their apps by groups from now. (Actually, this feature was suggested by a 3rd party developer who thought it was painful to deal with lots of apps in a single screen and wanted to focus on newly submitted apps only)
You can imagine this group as a "directory" or "folder" of apps. We hope this feature can help developers with lots of apps.
Simplified Look&Feel
We adopted new design principle and applied it to every single page of Developer Center. Our goal was to provide more sleek and clean working environment to the developers. Please check the attached images:
Improved usability
- Easier to use
- Lighter and faster than the previous ones
- Changed menu order (by analyzing click stream of visitors to find out frequently used ones)
<Features like 'unpublish', 'search', 'language change' can be reached by just 1 click>

Changes on Apps metadata
We removed unnecessary metadata which was adopted from the start but not used anymore. However, mandatory metadata like category or AID(Application ID) still exists.
Tag input being optional and category depth becoming simpler
Developers had to provide more than 2 keywords(tags), and had to choose 3-level category for every app. These restrictions are lessened: keywords(tags) are fully optional, and category is reduced to 2-level. Our app search engine will show your application to appropriate users even without tags.
Additional document for App Review being optional
Developers had to provide additional document about how their app has to be dealt with during the review process, but it becomes unnecessary. Developers can add some note instead, if they want, to inform our review team.
